Making Money While Travelling

Seems counter to this blog doesnt it? Not really. Some things just take money- like passports and festivals and such. Making money on the road can even be fun- your not in it for the long haul, so the people you meet are new, and you can make good friends this way. Hard work isnt bad- selling your life is. Here are some ways to make money on the road, in no particular order:

Mushroom picking
Edible mushrooms. Seasonal, but the money can be great, and its the coolest goddam job on the planet. Ill be making a whole article about this because I love doing it so much, stay tuned!

Migrant labor
Hard as hell, but farms can often use helping hands to pick produce. Do it for a bit, then go on to better things. Youll meet some of the hardest working people youve ever known. If you still think you can be successful just by working hard in America, this will shatter that.

Odd jobs
Check craigslist, or fly a sign. "Will work for money". Ever seen those people sitting in the parking lot of home depot in the morning? Do that. People need help with house work, and speaking English is a big plus. Speaking both English and Spanish is an even bigger plus, though.

Selling stuff
You find all kinds of great stuff just walking around! Why not stash it somewhere, and post it  to craigslist?

Bartering

More useful than you might think, especially among travelers.

Ship work:

Hang around a dock long enough, make contacts, and maybe you can score a job on a cruise or cargo ship. You even get a free voyage out of it!

I'm sure there are more ways to make money while traveling, but I am not very experienced in it. I rarely need money for what I want to do, and the times I have been distracted by it, I regret. I would love some input from readers here! Feel free to comment!

A note on stealing: Obviously, you are going to do what you want. If you choose to do this, I beg one thing: please dont steal from people. You are one poor person taking from another poor person. There are plenty of places that exploit their workers and manufacturers to the benefit of multi-millionaire CEOs.  I promise its much easier, and it wont make you feel like shit.
