Babylon: Normal society. Not all bad, but characterized by people trade hours of their lives for a small trickle of money to keep up their addictions.
Catching out: Hopping a freight train
Drom: short for "dromedary". A container you use to store large amounts of water in, not just a water bottle.
Home-bum: Someone who is homeless, but does not travel. The kind of people that
you see over and over again. They are not nomads, they are just
homeless. Some people look down on them, as they can sometimes suck all
the goodwill from an area.
Gutter Punk: The homeless
version of a certain variety of punk: dirty, usually at least a little
drunk, and very fun. Lots of great information to be got from them on
local squats and train schedules
Leatherfoot: A nomad who wanders on foot
Thumbing: Hitchiking
Shooby: Someone who wears shoes all the time (even at the beach!)
